Amy P.
Amy Pancake, M.A. and eryt-200, was first introduced to yoga in 1992 while studying Vipassana meditation at Wat Suan Mokkh Buddhist monastery in Thailand. She has been practicing yoga daily since 1998, and has taught over 2,000 yoga classes over the last five years and teaches several different styles of yoga.
She completed advanced yoga teacher training with Ana Forrest in July 2006. A Forrest yoga class is designed to awaken and enliven every cell of the body so that fresh energy can flow and old fears and blockages may be released. We do this by learning to direct and actively use the breath, creating space in the joints, moving from the core, and identifying and changing habitual struggle patterns. Learn how to balance the yoga dichotomies of stillness and movement, support and surrender, grace and structural integrity.

Beyond Power Yoga by Beryl Bender Birch This is a great book that includes asana, pranayama, yoga philosophy and meditation in a down to-earth, accessible way. It was a great tool to use in my beginner series teaching because it is set up chapter by chapter with the 8 limbs of yoga and the chakras.

Kimberly
Kimberly L. Jones has been teaching yoga since 2002, after receiving her 200-hour certification through Yoga Yoga Teacher Training. Since then, she has had the privilege of taking workshops with teachers such as John Friend, David Swenson, and Donna Farhi. While remaining ever- eclectic in her explorations toward the full expression of yoga, Kimberly has increasingly turned to and been inspired by the heart-centered approach of Anusara yoga, a path she plans to continue pursuing in her practice and teaching. She further holds great respect for the traditions of Iyengar and Viniyoga. From her previous dance training, Kimberly naturally inclines her practice toward a fluid flow of postures. As such, her classes nearly always include a vinyasa component, to varying degrees.
All in all, Kimberly strives to make her classes mirror life: at times tough, at times comfortably rhythmic; at times completely personal and inwardly tuned while at other times reaffirming the shared exploration of the class community. Among its many benefits, yoga encourages the balance between effort and acceptance, that which remains for many of us the ballad of life.

Malia
Being dedicated to yoga for almost six years now has opened Malia’s eyes and ears to the flow of life, on and off the mat. Malia first discovered Bikram yoga, while seeking her BFA in Design at the University of Texas. What she thought was just a physical practice became a much deeper, mind, body, and spiritual practice. A dear teacher, friend, and mentor, Vanessa Fiola, introduced Malia to Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga in 2004. Thus, she attended one of Baron Baptiste’s Power Revolution Weekends. Baron’s teaches you to live from authentic truth and thus, she decided it was time to do just that. Malia has attended Baptiste Power Yoga Institiute’s Level 1 and 2 trainings, along with various trainings and workshops with Shiva Rae and Ana Forrest. She enjoys teaching various styles of vinyasa flow, along with pre/post-natal, kids, and corporate yoga.
Malia is currently working on her 500 hour registered yoga certification through Yoga Alliance and teaches group classes at various studios and private lessons in Austin, Texas. Visit www.yogawithmalia.com for more information.

Monica
Monica Paredes has recently moved to Austin from Hoboken, NJ, but lived most of her life in Connecticut. It was her first struggles with downward dog and the patience of teacher Ann Gorjanc that would change the direction of her life. Almost ten years later, one Kripalu teaching certification, several years of study with yoga masters like Anusara’s Desiree Rumbaugh and founder John Friend, moving four times across the US, and naturally birthing one beautiful son, yoga still invokes those same feelings of challenge and acceptance.
Much of Monica’s teaching time has been spent in developing a special program for expectant moms, one in which they can feel a balance of empowerment and trust in themselves and in their growing babies. Through the use of breath work, chanting, meditation as well as gentle yoga movements, moms are encouraged to be joyfully present throughout all stages of their pregnancy. Since the birth of her son in 2005, Monica now enjoys teaching the tiniest students, helping them continue to connect with their moms, dads and caregivers in a playful and supportive environment.
Monica has taught classes and workshops across the US and in Italy, and has been featured in various television news programs and magazines touting the benefits of prenatal and mom and child yoga. She is the author of The Art of the Yamas and Niyas, an inspirational guide to using the principles of yoga in our daily lives. When she’s not teaching or singing silly songs with her son, Monica immerses herself in portraiture and documentary photography. You can see some of her work at triumbra.com.
